Fasting and no response from God?

RE-EVALUATE YOUR FAST!

Isaiah 58 [MSG]

1 "Shout! A full-throated shout! Hold nothing back-a trumpet-blast shout! Tell my people what's wrong with their lives, face my family Jacob with their sins!2 They're busy, busy, busy at worship, and love studying all about me. To all appearances they're a nation of right-living people-law-abiding, God-honoring. They ask me, 'What's the right thing to do?' and love having me on their side.

3 But they also complain, 'Why do we fast and you don't look our way? Why do we humble ourselves and you don't even notice?' "Well, here's why: "The bottom line on your 'fast days' is profit. You drive your employees much too hard.4 You fast, but at the same time you bicker and fight. You fast, but you swing a mean fist. The kind of fasting you do won't get your prayers off the ground.5 Do you think this is the kind of fast day I'm after: a day to show off humility? To put on a pious long face and parade around solemnly in black? Do you call that fasting, a fast day that I, God, would like?

6 "This is the kind of fast day I'm after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts.7 What I'm interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families.8 Do this and the lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once. Your righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage.

Holding on to what you know while unable to hear

What I am teaching you.

Why are you sad about who is not loving you.

Why do you not know that I am here.

To carry you through.

To hold you,

To assure you.

You are holding on to you,

When there is nothing to fear.

You are wanting to solve it on your own,

When I carry the answer in my Word.

You are wanting to know what is obvious.

My Child,

Trade your sorry for the joy I have for you.

Trade your anger for the peace I have for you.

Trade your hurt for the happiness I have for you.

I am here to unshackle you.

To bring you out.

Out from behind the masks.

From Hiding,

From Projecting.

From Impressing.

I am here.

It's time to rest now,

Do not try to ear the love I have given you freely,

Healing is here.

He weighs your HEART

Proverbs 21:2

2 All a man's ways seem right to him,
but the Lord weighs the heart.

People can find an excuse for doing almost anything, but God looks behind the excuses to the motives of the heart. We often have to make choices in areas where the right action is difficult to discern. We can help ourselves make such decisions by trying to identify our motives first and then asking, "Would God be pleased with my real reasons for doing this?" God is not pleased when we do good deeds only to receive something in return.

Where is your heart? What are your motives? Allow God to reveal your motives and see if they align with what He wants.
